Mike Shallcross

Being now officially an Old Person (OAP), I’ve done many things in my life, of which psychotherapy is the most recent, though I’ve been trying (with only partial success) to make sense of myself since the 1980’s.

I trained with the BeeLeaf Institute, and I have a pluralistic approach to therapy (and to other things); for me it’s less about techniques and interventions, and more about a shared journey of understanding. I like the approach to mental distress set out in the BPS’s Power Threat Meaning Framework.

Apart from doing therapy and supervision (and some training in therapy research), I amuse myself (and sometimes other people) by riding a unicycle and learning parkour, and occasionally getting involved in am-dram. I also metamorphose into a geek and write software for analysing spreadsheets.
